Walker's presentation of the future is lurid and concerningly close to that which may be in our near future. It is claustrophobic and brings into play the worst of our historic and present selves. There is no nuclear family unit portrayed. It is elitist and hedonistic; a bit too close for comfort.

Time's Edge by Rysa Walker

In Time's Edge we are seeing J. F. Kennedy’s murder and an exploration of racial tensions including riots and lynchings. Rather deep topics for a young adult fiction book. Rysa Walker handles the topics quite well; juxtaposing necessary decisions and actions within ethical and moral boundaries.
