Invitation: Cycle One of the Harbingers Series by Bill Myers, Frank Peretti, Angela Hunt, and Alton Gansky

I was so intrigued by the concept of four well-known, talented, and unique authors writing a series of short stories together.  In the introduction, the authors explain that the stories were written independently yet joined together with an overarching storyline in a manner similar to a tv series.  I have read novels by all four of the authors and their writing styles are quite distinct.  I had no idea that they were friends… fun.  With the combined creativity of these authors, it is no surprise to me that they came up with such an ingenious concept.

So, while I found myself intrigued I was also dubious.  Could the series be cohesive with the distinct writing styles of four different authors?  Would it be confusing?

The Shattered Vigil by Patrick W. Carr

I have taken FOREVER to write this review.  I read The Shattered Vigil months ago and have returned multiple times to write this review.  There have been many iterations and at one time my review was almost 2000 words long.  I thought that might be a wee bit excessive ;).  I can't imagine that you want to read a comprehensive treatise rather than a book review.  If you do, I would really love to meet you,

The Path of Destiny by Mike Shelton

Mike Shelton introduces heavy topics such as the seeking of identity, leadership, family dynamics, good and evil, love and hate in a way that is helpful but not heavy.  Interlaced within is the fun of magic; one aspect of which is the Cremelino horses.  It’s worth reading just to find out about these horses.  I’ll take one, please!

Soulblade by Lindsay Buroker

Soulblade is full of sorceresses, dragons, royalty, swamps, bizarre and incredibly dangerous wildlife, rope bridges, and humor (often ribald). I found Soulblade to be the most exciting, fast-paced, action-packed story in the Dragon Blood series.

Merchant of Alyss by Thomas Locke

I cannot express the honor and privilege that I feel to be a part of the Thomas Locke advance team. God orchestrates some of the kindest, most gracious, joy-filled opportunities for His disciples. I pray that my writing will do justice to this and all of the books that I feel so blessed to read. There are incredibly talented writers, both classic and modern, that are well worth the time to read. Sometimes it takes a little digging but I find that it is always worth it; Thomas Locke stands as one of my favorites.
