life is...

Life is bewildering!

Sometimes it feels overwhelming.

Life is a beautiful blessing!

I stand in absolute awe of God's creation, His holiness, His glory, His omniscience, His righteousness, His authority, His gift, His faithfulness, His forgiveness.

Ministry is bewildering!

I fall into the trap of blaming God for my "pain and misery". Why do I forget that Christ was mocked and scorned and yet He did not sin? Should I expect a better reaction to my witness than Christ did? Absolutely not! It is so easy for me to react sinfully.

I was never promised easy. Ever! Christ commands that I daily take up my cross, which is a visceral picture of a tortuous instrument of death, and to follow HIM.

Luke 9:23 (ESV)
And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Ministry is an awe-inspiring blessing!

There are people that God has placed in the lives of our family that are so priceless.  We have been completely amazed by the often unexpected enrichment in our faith and family.  The knowledge of these blessings is something that will live in our hearts forever. They are rays of sunshine that blast through the painful moments.

In early November 2016 my husband and I were blessed to travel to Seattle with our family.  We enjoyed a bit of family time but the purpose and the highlight of the trip was to see God join in the covenant of marriage a beautiful young Christian couple.

The groom Andrew is a blessing to my husband and I in ways he will never fathom. He submitted himself to Christ and sought out an elder to disciple him. God led him to my husband Darrell, answering Darrell's very specific heartfelt prayer for a young man to invest his heart in and disciple.

Andrew moved from our home state of Montana to Alaska but the humble joy he has given my husband by trusting him as a mentor has created a lifelong ray of joy filled sunshine that is striking and is a reminder of Christ's love.

Andrew and Christina's wedding will remain one that brings the greatest joy to my heart outside of my own. There is a bond between my husband and Andrew that is deeper than family. The bond is God made! As a pastor's wife, there are not many things that count higher on your happy list than this for your battle weary husband.

Whenever the battle seems bewildering, hard, and wearying it is always because I take my eyes off of my creator and focus upon myself. These priceless gems serve as a reminder that my Savior is there and that I need to exercise faith.

Isaiah 12:2 (ESV)
“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
